Bluebird Turquoise

When I bought this beautiful Bluebird turquoise I knew I had to create a piece based on the Bukowski poem of the same name.

Bukowski more than perhaps any other poet is able to simply express the rawness of the human experience both in its beauty and in its sorrow. Some of the language may be outdated but I don’t believe in editing others' words and any attempt to clean up Bukowski would be to miss the point.
 
In its authenticity, there is an honesty and beauty often not found in the work of those focused solely on writing what is socially acceptable.
 
Philosophically, it reminds of the concept of Buddha Nature, the idea that beyond all our flaws, inadequacies and attempts to self-sabotage, there exists a purity of potential, a perfect, loving mind, heart or Bluebird.

at night sometimes when everybody's asleep
I say, I know that you're there
so don't be sad

Then I put him back
but he's singing a little
in there, I haven't quite let him die
and we sleep together like that
with our secret pact
and it's nice enough to make a man
weep, but I don't weep, do
you?
