Montana Agate
Pair of Eco Sterling Silver Necklaces

Have you ever felt so connected to a person that you thought your electrons might be entangled? Well as weird as it sounds there may be some truth to it.

Quantum Entanglement is a phenomenon that has bemused scientists for decades; even Einstein described it as ‘spooky action at a distance’. At the Quantum level (really, really small) things start to get particularly weird and the normal rules of physics go out the window.

One such oddity is Quantum Entanglement, in which electrons that have been created together, continue to impact the way that the other behaves, instantly, even if they are separated to opposite ends of the universe. Entangled particles spin in different directions but will always take the opposite spin position to the electron they’re entangled with. It has been shown consistently that when one particle is measured, forcing it to determine it’s spin position, the other will react by spinning the opposite way instantly no matter how far away they are, faster than the speed of light.

This is yet to be explained and raises questions as to the interconnectedness of all matter. Now, it needs to be said that just because this applies to the quantum world doesn’t necessarily mean it can be assumed to be the same at a larger level. However, an interesting thing to consider would be whether at the point of the creation, the big bang bringing the knowable universe into existence created all particles entangled. In which case, reality begins to look a little bit like some sort of unified whole with only the illusion of separateness as described by many Eastern traditions.

I think this is interesting as lots of people say anecdotally that they intuitively know when something has happened to a loved one, particularly in times of great stress. Science seems to be showing increasingly that what we call space isn’t empty in the way that we think of it but is chock full of fields and quantum activity. So increasingly the idea of a separate individualised self seems more and more fictitious.

These necklaces aim to celebrate this inter-connectedness with two matching Montana agate necklaces for you and a loved one. Identical except for the moon and star stamp on the backs, which represent the space matter that constitutes our make up.
